Welcome

Welcome

Claonaig Estate comprises the areas Midhill/North Tarbert and North Carse/High Carse on Argyll and Knapdale as well as Claonaig and Narachan situated on the long and narrow peninsula of Kintyre.

The Bagger-Soerensen family bought the first area in 1991, more land in 1999 and most recently Claonaig.

Our somewhat 5500 hectares are characterized by open hill, woodland and fields. Many species of birds, deer and wildlife can be seen.

In 2005 a unique black grouse project funded by the Bagger-Soerensen family, the EU and the Scottish Forestry Grant Scheme was carried out at Narachan/Garasdale.

From the hills you have a wonderful view over either the Firth of Clyde/Kilbrannan Sound (and the Isle of Arran) or the Irish Ocean/the Atlantic Ocean.

There are various hill lochs with an abundance of wild brown trout. You also find several spate rivers with brown trout and sea trout.

Timber production is still important. However, the woodlands have undergone various management methods to improve them as habitats for wildlife and sporting purposes.
